Obituary

Kinder-A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis "Crip" Duplachan, Jr., 84 , will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10 A.M. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday evening from 4-9 P.M. at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. A Vigil Service will be held at 6 P.M. followed by the rosary. Visitation will resume on Monday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Francis, affectionately known as "Crip", was born and raised on a rice farm in Kinder, Louisiana. Upon graduating from high school, he began rice farming and after four years of farming, became a charter member of a corporation that developed a 10,000 acre tract of land belonging to Rice University of Houston, Texas. He was engaged in this endeavor for forty-four years and retired as the sole operator of that farm. He was named Louisiana Rice Farmer of the Year in 1977, and was elected by his fellow farmers to the A.S.C. and S.C.S. Committee to administer federal farm programs on a county level, a position he has served for forty-eight years. He was elected President of the Louisiana Association of Farmer-Elected Committeemen for a four year term, and was currently President of the Kinder Rice Drier.
Francis was an avid domino player and has participated in many domino tournaments. He played twice a week at the American Legion Hall in Kinder. Francis was the first non-Texan elected into the Texas Domino Hall of Fame. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family will cherish his memory.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Duplachan of Kinder; two sons, Paul Duplachan and wife, Lucie, of League City, TX and Randy Morton and wife, Ellen, of Banderap, TX; five daughters, Susan Doise and husband, Barney of Kinder, Nancy Jones of Lake Charles, Lisa Brouillette and husband, Andy, of League City, TX, Debbie Chambley and husband, Bob, of Moss Bluff, and Karen Collins and husband, Lonnie, of Baytown, TX; 15 grandchildren; and, 15 great grandchildren.
Francis is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Eva Duplachan; his first wife, JoAnn Duplachan; and one son, Pete Duplachan.
