Obituary

Oberlin-Celebration of Life services honoring Exie Rose Dick, 100, will be held at 11 o'clock a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Progressive Church of God in Christ in Oberlin. Pastor Dallas Thomas will officiate. Exie will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery in Oberlin immediately following her services.

Exie's family will receive friends and visitors at Progressive Church of God in Christ in Oberlin on Saturday morning, April 20, 2024, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Exie's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

Exie, affectionately called Rose by all who knew her, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful and devoted wife to her first husband and father of her children Webster Coleman, and her second husband Wilson Dick. Exie was a faithful and devoted member of Progressive Church of God in Christ Church in Oberlin where she attended church regularly. She enjoyed cooking, growing flowers, working in her yard, but especially spending time with her family whom she absolutely adored.  Exie was a very kind and caring person and loved to help others anytime she could. She worked hard cleaning houses all her life to provide for her family and her six children. She was a wonderful and amazing mother and grandmother who always had time for her children and grandchildren. She always put her family before herself making sure to instill kindness, love, and hard work into them. Exie will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Exie's memory include, one daughter, Vera Guillory of Oberlin, LA; one son, Norman Cole and wife Marylyn of Oberlin, LA, two brothers, Earl Cole and wife Vivian, and Roger Cole both of Oberlin, LA; twelve grandchildren; and a host of numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Exie is preceded in death by her parents, Erkie Cole and Anita Isles; her first husband Webster Coleman, her second husband Wilson Dick; four daughters, Vergie Papillon, Nita Williams, Ruthie Lazenby, and Patricia Berry; one granddaughter, Casshonda Cole; one great granddaughter, Jordan Limbrick; four sisters, and three brothers.
