Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Elton. She was a graduate of Elton High School and McNeese State University. Due to her compassion and desire to help others, she chose a career in the field of social services. She was a dedicated employee of the Department of Children and Family Services' Economic Stability Unit for thirty years. Evelyn was deeply rooted in her faith and family. She was a wonderful mother to her son, Jon-Erik. She greatly enjoyed the many gatherings of her family on weekends and holidays. She especially enjoyed decorating at Christmas and giving gifts to her many great nieces and nephews. Evelyn also enjoyed traveling. She cherished the memories of the time she spent traveling to locations both at home and abroad with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, J.C. and Della Soileau of Elton; one son, Jon-Erik Soileau of Elton; five sisters, Cheryl Wilson of Basile, Carroll Gobert and husband, Terry, of Elton, Lindy Gatson and husband, Karl, of Lake Charles, Donna Mouton and husband, Donald, of Duson, and Roslyn Harmon and husband, Larry, of Kinder; two aunts, Deloris Morris and husband, Alvin, and Louella Soileau, all of Baytown, TX; two uncles, Curtis Sterling and wife, Rena, of Lake Charles, and Herbert Soileau and wife, Carolyn, of Compton, CA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
