Elton-Funeral service for Eugene Wright Williams, 73, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Elton Assembly of God. Pastor Chris Skeet and Gareth Abbey will co-officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 2-9 p.m. with a traditional singing service being held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Eugene, known as "Daddy" or "Pops", lived in Elton for more than twenty years. He served our country in the United States Marines, having fought in the Korean War. He worked with the Coushatta tribe, was a licensed plumber, and loved "tinkering with his hands". Eugene was an avid Saints fan. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and western movies, especially John Wayne. Collecting antique model cars was another of his favorite hobbies. He was a loving husband, and a dedicated father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Williams of Elton; two sons, Eric and Chadwick LaPointe, both of Dulce, NM; three daughters, Torrie Williams of Elton, AnginaWilliams of Kinder, and Genesis Abbey of Lake Charles; one sister, Leona Williams of Elton; 33 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Ivey and Abner Williams; two sisters and three brothers.
