"Essie" Langley
November 9, 1929 – August 31, 2020
Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial for Esyleta D. "Essie" Langley, 90, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jerish George will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Soileau under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 6-10 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Essie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a devoted wife to her husband for thirty-eight years. She was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Essie was also a member of The Ladies Alter Society. She worked very hard to take care of her family. She loved spending time with her family and cooking for them. She was an excellent cook. Her family says she made the best beef gravy. Essie was a Eucharistic minister where she would give communion to the "shut ins" and the nursing home patients. She loved growing flowers, working in her yard and traveling. Essie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Essie's memory include her three sons, Stanford Langley of Lake Charles, Paul Langley and wife, Hong Dao, of Humble, TX and Allen Langley and wife, Jaylyn of Soileau; two daughters, Lucinda "Cindy" Jordan and husband, Richey, of Reeves and Mendy Callahan and husband, Tom, of Soileau; two brothers, Herman Deshotel of Soileau and Walter Deshotel, Jr., and wife Juanita, of Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Essie is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucinda Deshotel; and two sisters, Thelma Bartlett and Geneva Deshotel.
