Oberlin-Funeral service for Esther Richard, 96, will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Rev. Pradeep Gali will officiate. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m.
Esther was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was born in Oberlin, Louisiana. She was a lifelong educator who frequently visited other countries including France, Switzerland, England, and many more. Esther often took her students on her trips abroad. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She served as a lector at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church for many years. Esther was loved by many who will cherish her memories forever.
Esther is survived by her son, Adolf Wolfgang von Württemberg and wife, Rani; her daughter, Cynthia Walker; 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Oleus and Alicia Fontenot; her husband, Glen Wattenbarger; two sons, Timmothy Joseph, and Michael Ray Wattenbarger; one daughter, Mary Jane Peters; one brother, Leroy Fontenot; and one sister, Atlas Louviere.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers for Esther's service include Barron Walker, Roland Bass, Jesse Wattenbarger, Cole Wattenbarger, Dylan Perkins, and Ethan Klein.
