Oberlin-Funeral service for Emily Adams, 72, will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 10 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in McGee Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, Oberlin on Tuesday, June 1, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Emily will be remembered as the backbone of her family and for her desire to serve others. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and a member of St.Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin.
Emily leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Robert Garlin Adams of Oberlin; son, John Cary Adams and wife, Cherie, of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Melinda Granger and husband, Glenn, of DeRidder, and Sonya Adams of Lake Charles; three brothers, L.J. Vidrine of Elizabeth, Irvin Vidrine of Oakdale, and Phillip Vidrine of Tampa, FL; one sister, Marie Whitley of Woodville, TX; three grandchildren,Austin Granger, Hailee Adams and Ericka Adams.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Linus J. Vidrine and Della Vidrine; two brothers, Paul Aldon Vidrine and Rigsby Vidrine; and one sister, Etta LeMaitre.
