Kinder-Elroy "Pie" Renthrope, 73, passed away suddenly at his home on December 3, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Botley Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Elroy was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Hazel, of forty-two years. Elroy is a Kinder native and has lived here all his life. He retired from the DOTD of Lake Charles after thirty-two years of dedication and hard work. Elroy was the most humble, soft spoken and kind-hearted person to have been around. He loved going to church, being outdoors, riding his four-wheeler and horses. Elroy loved spending time with his family and going places with his loving wife. He mostly enjoyed taking care of his great niece, Haiven Serie, for the past two years. They were inseparable. Elroy was always lending a helping hand with a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Elroy's memory include his wife, Hazel Renthrope; four brothers, Jullin (Troyonia) Renthrope of New Orleans, Ivory (Delores) Renthrope, Jr., of Florida, Daniel (Betty) Renthrope of Colorado Springs, CO and Terry (Caroline) Renthrope of Kinder; one brother-in-law, Steven (Linda) Boulden of Kinder; one sister-in-law, Linda "Whip" Boulden of Oberlin; three Godchildren, Anette (Gerry) Williams of Lake Charles, Heather (Jewery) Webb of Lake Charles and Hannah (Emeric) Simmons of Lake Charles; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Elroy is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Ivory Renthrope; two brothers, Willard and Mitchell Renthrope; and sister, Mandy Lee Lavan.
