Kinder-Funeral services for Ella Smith Sumrall, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at LeBlanc Pentecostal Church. Rev. Alfred Gibson, Rev. Kagen Pitre, and Rev. Terry Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Creel Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Reeves under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 4-9 p.m. with a singing service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at LeBlanc Pentecostal Church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Ella, affectionately known as Ella D, was a loving mother and friend to all. She never met a stranger. She took in everyone as though they were her own. Ella was a prayer warrior and loved God with all her heart. She had the utmost respect for the ministry as well as for her church. She is known in her community for her annual October Music Festival where she opened her home to all with food and fellowship while praising God through the musical talents of many. Ella will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Ella's memory include her four sons, Robert Smith of Reeves, Max Smith and wife, Sandra of Lake Charles, Brandt Smith of Reeves, and Ronnie Smith and wife, Tina of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Richelle Smith of Westlake; one brother, Rev. Gordon Alexander and wife, Kathryn of Dexter, MS; one sister, Betty Jo Walker of Reeves; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Ella is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruby Alexander; her husbands, Robert Ray Smith, Sr. and William Sumrall; one brother, Elmer D. "Cobb" Alexander; and one sister, Sylvia Pender.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ella's memory to LeBlanc Pentecostal Church, P.O. Box 137, LeBlanc, LA 70651.
