Obituary

Kinder-Ella-Mae Ceaser Prater, 60, departed this life on Dec. 9, 2015, at Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, La., surrounded by her family and friends.

Ella was born on July 9, 1955, in Kinder, La., to the late John Ceaser Sr. and Mable Victorian. She was the last, but liveliest child born to this union.

She was a woman of many talents and an entrepreneur. She retired as supervisor from the Greater Houston Zoo and started her own professional cleaning service and tax preparation businesses. Ella was a kind-spirited woman who was full of life. She never met a stranger and if you had a story to tell, she became your friend. But her greatest treasure was the love she had for her children!

She leaves to cherish her memories, special friend, Wilburn Caldwell; four sons, Jimmie, James (Mary), Joshua (Rose) Prater of Houston, Texas, and Justin Prater of Oberlin, La.; two brothers, Vincent (Shirley) Cesair of Ville Platte, La., and John Ceaser Jr. of Oberlin, La.; two sisters, Vergie (Al) Trug of Dickerson, Texas, and Aldenette (Willard) Slate of Lake Charles, La.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and baby girl, Mary Prater.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, with visitation from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home in Kinder, La. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder, La. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Entombment will follow immediately at St. Joseph Cemetery in Soileau, La.
