Elton-Funeral services for Ella Belle Laughlin, age 90, will be held on Wednesday,
November 16, 2011 at 2pm in First United Pentecostal Church in Kinder. Rev. M.G.
Davis, Rev. Bradley Laughlin, Rev. Ryan Laughlin, Rev. Ronnie Perkins, and Rev. Randy
Stanton will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice.
Visitation will begin at Ardoin Funeral Home in Elton Tuesday, November
15, 2011 from 11am-9pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 16,
2011 at First United Pentecostal Church in Kinder at 10am until time of service.
Ella Belle was a resident of Elton for the past 65 years. She was married to
C.W. Laughlin, Sr. for 53 years; and together they owned and operated Laughlin's
Grocery in Elton. She was a faithful and caring wife, mother, granny, and a friend
to all who knew her. She was also a lifelong member of the Elton United
Pentecostal Church. During her illness she was cared for by her children and
caregivers, Sylvia Sonnier, Gloria Higginbotham, her granddaughter Tanya,
and Southern Care Hospice.
Survivors include seven children, C.W. Laughlin, Jr. and wife Ross, Barbara
Hebert and husband Harold, Fay Marcantel and husband Jon, Roger (Tony) Laughlin
and wife Cherri, Connie Dixon and husband Pete, Becky Bertrand and husband
Reggie, Steve Laughlin and wife Mindy; one sister, Genevieve Toups of New
Iberia; and one step-brother, Benjamin Rawlins of Weeks Island; 33 grandchildren;
60 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; her faithful "pet" Candy;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Wallace Laughlin Sr.; son,
Harold (Teeter); grandson, Micah; her parents, Caesar and Agnes Hebert Rawlins;
and stepfather Jessie Rawlins.
