Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial for Elese Hass Hoover, 81 will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 11 o'clock a.m. Rev. Fr. Jom Joseph will officiate. Elese will be laid to rest at Oberlin Cemetery immediately following her services.

Elese's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Tuesday evening, November 7, 2023, from 4-9 o'clock p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 o'clock p.m. Elese's visitation will resume on Wednesday morning, November 8, 2023, from 8 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Elese's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

Elese was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin for over 30 years. Elese loved and adored her family especially her children. She loved to spend time with her family and cherished every memory she made with them.  Elese spanned her career as a teacher for over 50 years until her well-deserved retirement in 2017.  She loved to shop, enjoyed watching New Orleans Saints football and Houston Astros baseball. She also enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her flowerbeds. Most of all she enjoyed taking care of her daughter Jeanne. Elese was a very kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Elese's memory include her son Blaine Hoover of Corpus Christi, TX; one daughter, Jeanne Hoover of New Iberia, LA, and one sister, Ellen Johnson of Oberlin; and host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Elese is preceded in death by her parents, Jerome, and Blanche Haas; one son, Michael Thomas Hoover; one brother, Jerome Haas, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Esther Courville.
