Elton-Funeral service for Eleanor Leonard, age 91, will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 18, 2012 in the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Elton. Deacon John Eaves will officiate and burial will follow in Chretien Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
Family and friends will begin gathering at the funeral home at 10am Thursday morning and will observe visitation until the time of service.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Elton and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and enjoyed sewing and cooking and times spent with her children and grandchildren. She was the owner and operator of the Tiger Lounge for over 30 years where she shared many fun times with local zydeco musicians, family and friends. Eleanor's memory will be forever in the hearts of many. She truly enjoyed life-Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ernest Chretien of Elton and Joseph Walter Chretien and wife, Cynthia of Chicago; three daughters, Bonnie Chretien and Annie Chretien, both of Elton, and Terry Lartigue and husband, John of Deridder; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Rebecca Leonard.
