Oberlin-It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Elda Courville announces her passing from this life after a very courageous battle with numerous health problems. She died Christmas day at 4PM with her family at her side.
Funeral service for Mrs. Courville, 77, will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery of Elton under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will begin at New Beginnings Church of Oberlin on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10AM and will continue through Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6PM on Tuesday evening.
Elda was a native of Eunice, but lived most of her life in the Elton and Oberlin areas. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Oberlin.
Mrs. Courville is survived by four daughters, Cindy Schexneider and husband, Dudley of Oberlin, Jenny Fontenot and husband, Curley of Oberlin, Melissa Bartell and husband, Troy of Oberlin, and Helen LaFosse and husband, Gary of Kinder; two sons, Paul Courville and wife, Cathy and Phillip Courville, all of Oberlin; one stepdaughter, Brenda Horner and husband, Jimmy of Iowa; six sisters, Mary Courville of Elton, Zora LaFleur of Houma, Mildred Edwards of Alexandria, Odile Fulmer of Kinder, Linda Lyons of Church Point, and Eldine LaFleur of Schriever; and one brother, Simon Darbonne of Oberlin. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, whom were her pride and joy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she adored.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Courville, her parents, Jim and Arment Darbonne, and her brother, Calvin Darbonne.
