Elaine was born on April 20, 1931, in Edna, LA, to Raney and Tressie Fontenot. She attended McNeese State University where she met Wallace Valentine of Jena, LA. On June 23, 1951, they were married and moved to Baytown, TX. The couple moved many times through the years in association with Wallace's Civil Engineering career. In 1966 they settled in Beaumont, TX, where they raised their family and were active in the First Baptist Church. Elaine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Wallace, for 65 years. She was a gifted seamstress, enjoyed cooking, taught Children's Sunday School and volunteered at her children's activities. In 2001, the couple moved to Richmond, TX, to be near their family. Elaine enjoyed many band concerts, dance recitals, soccer games, football games, and swim meets with her grandchildren. When they would come over, she always greeted them with a hug and chocolate chip cookies. Elaine will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Wallace Valentine; her son Ken Valentine and wife, Barbara; her daughter Kathy Bross and husband, Steve; two brothers, Shelton Fontenot and wife, Mary Lee, and Sherman Fontenot and wife, Mary; brother-in-law Howard Nielsen; and her five grandchildren, David Bross, Robert Bross and wife, Emily, Tyler Valentine and wife, Kelsey, Justin Valentine and wife, Katherine, and Brittany Valentine.
