Oberlin-Funeral Services for Edward Joseph Deumite, 100, will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
Edward Joseph Deumite was born February 4, 1921 in Oberlin, Louisiana and passed away peacefully at the age of 100 at home with family. "Uncle Ed" to all, was a loving Uncle, eternal optimist, avid football and western movie fan. He was a dedicated walker who never met a stranger. Uncle Ed was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly until his last few months. His friendly disposition, saluting wave, quick wit and playful personality will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his brothers, Louis Deumite (Betty, deceased)and Norman Deumite (Kay); sister, Ruth Thomas (K.J., deceased); nieces, Karen Darnall (Mike), Patricia Thomas, Kathy Broha (Kent), Libby Chop (David), Staci Duhe (Craig); and nephews, Marty Deumite (Beverly), Dr. Joseph Deumite (Karen), Phillip Thomas (Linda), John Thomas (Beverly), Scott Deumite, Sloan Deumite and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The eldest of six children, Uncle Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Rose Deumite; brothers, Alee and Phillip Deumite; niece, Rose Ann Deleo (Jim) and nephew, Steve Deumite.
