Oakdale-Funeral Services for Edith "Irelene" Strother, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, August 1, 2019.
Irelene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a loving wife to her husband, Edward, for forty-five years until his passing. They had three wonderful children together that they loved dearly. She drove a school bus for Allen Parish School Board for twenty-two years. After retirement, she devoted her time to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irelene enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and reading. Her children say, she made the best meatloaf and red gravy. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Oakdale. Irelene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Irelene's memory include her son, Andy Strother and wife, Shellie, of Oakdale; two daughters, Crista Willis and husband, Randy, of Oakdale and Carly Strother and significant other, Alfred Guillory, of Oakdale; one brother, Curtis Andrews of Mittie; ten grandchildren, Erica, Clay, Hannah, Alex, Bailee, Ryan, Kodeigh, Banx, Skylen and AliAnna; and two great grandchildren, Emma and Dawson.
Irelene is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ray and Mildred Andrews; husband, George Edward Strother; and one sister, Harriet Garlington.
