It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Earthy Mae Griffith announce her passing. Earthy Mae, age 61, was called to her heavenly home on February 3, 2015. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Word Ministries of Eunice. Rev. Greg Fontenot will officiate with the assistance of several guest ministers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder and Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Word Ministries, 1960 West Laurel Avenue, on Saturday morning, February 21, 2015, from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Earthy Mae was a devoted wife of 40 years. She was also a loving mother and grandmother. Earthy Mae was a woman of strong faith and a warrior in prayer. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was on the deaconess board at Greater Golden Light Baptist Church of Basile. She loved to travel and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked hard to provide for her family and always had an encouraging word to say. She was never seen without a smile on her face. Earthy Mae will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Earthy Mae's memory include her loving husband, Horace Griffith, Jr.; one son, Horace Griffith III and wife, Angela, of Leesville; one daughter, Shamona Griffith of Leesville; three brothers, Levi Citizen, Jr., Lee Arthur Citizen and Roy Citizen and wife, Pat, all of Lake Charles; four sisters, Laverta Dobbset and husband, A.B., and Octavia Johnson, all of Lake Charles, Perversie McAdams of Texas City, TX, and Mary Nell Johnwell of Eunice; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Earthy Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Annie Citizen; and one brother, Leroy Citizen.
