Glenmora-Homegoing services for Dorothy Alene Hester, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Glenmora United Pentecostal Church. Rev. Greg Willis and Rev. Brandon Goynes will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Glenmora United Pentecostal Church on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Dorothy, affectionately known as Alene, was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a loving wife to her husband, W.J., until his passing. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Glenmora United Pentecostal Church. Alene was dedicated to living a holy life and expected her children to do the same. She enjoyed playing the piano and being a part of the ladies prayer meetings. Alene was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed every moment of it. Every night, Alene had a 12 a.m. prayer with her prayer group ladies. She was the piano player for many years at Forest Hill Pentecostal Church. Alene was a good cook and loved to cook for anyone who would ask for her special dishes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Alene's memory include her two daughters, Lisa Hester and Beverly Warren; three sisters, Danita Reeves, Sherry Smith (Wayne) and Lawanda Jones; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a very dear friend and neighbor whom always looked out for her, Ms. Ruth Novick; as well as a host of nieces and nephews; her aunt, Mollie; and numerous friends whom she loved dearly.

Alene is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Dorothy Jones; husband, W.J. Hester; and daughter, Darla Hester.
