Oakdale-Funeral services for Donald Westbrook, 69, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 in the chapel of Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery in Vinton at 12:30 p.m. under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes of Oakdale.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Donald was in the United States Army. He was a Master Sergeant, E6, in the Army and was a Green Beret, as well as a paratrooper from 1969-1975. Donald served in Vietnam and received a Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Citation, Purple Heart, Air Medal, and Bronze Star. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Donald's memory include Thi Bi Nguyen his companion and her family; his former wife, Ursura Westbrook; one daughter, Amy Westbrook of Worchester, MA; two step-daughters, Gina Hebert Johnson of Oberlin and LaShawn Avery of Galveston, TX; two step-sons, Michael Winkle of Orlando, FL and Bobby Gene Avery of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Michael Westbrook; two sisters, Peggy Denton and Mollie Pickett; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucille Westbrook; son, Craig Westbrook; step-daughter, Monique Avery; grandson, David Hebert, Jr., and son-in-law, Enford Godeaux.
