Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Donald Eugene Shows, 78, will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2 o'clock p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Rev. Charles Seal and Richard Polk will officiate. Donnie will be laid to rest at Butters Cemetery in Forest Hill immediately following his services.

Donnie's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 3-9 o'clock p.m. Donnie's visitation will resume on Tuesday morning, November 28, 2023, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Donnie's arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Donald affectionately called "Donnie" by all who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Donnie was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Linda for 57 years. He worked hard as a water well driller all his life to support his family. Once Donnie entered retirement, he and his wife started D&J Well Services. Donnie loved to garden and always made sure to plant enough vegetables for his family and to give away to whoever wanted them. He enjoyed planting and working in his garden with his old and new tractors. Donnie loved and adored his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. He also loved to travel and see the country with his "bride" Mrs. Linda. Donnie will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew him.

Those left to mourn Donnie's  loss and cherish his memory include his wife Linda O'Banion Shows of Glenmora; four sons, Donald Shows Jr. (Jazzie), James Shows (April), John Shows (Nikki), and Cody Shows (Jammie); two daughters, Donna "Sissy" Polk (Richard), and Tina Botson (Jeff) all of Glenmora; fourteen grandchildren, Caleb Silvers, Casey King (Haley), Scott Wells, Jami Ogonowski (Jonathan), Amber Walters (Donald), Cameron Shows, Hayden Carriker, Ariel, Trinity, Alayna, Laythen, Brantlee, Donald Shows III, and Daphanie Shows; five great grandchildren, Natalie, Taylor and Tye King, and Raelynn and Emilee Walters, one brother, Robert Howard; and three sisters, Doris McPayne, Sue Shows and Judy Howell.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Ethel Shows; one brother, J.W. Shows; one sister, Ruby Wright.

Pallbearers honored to serve are James, John, Cody Shows, Jeff Boston, Casey King, and Scott Wells.

Honorary pallbearers honored to serve are Richard Polk, Cameron Shows, Hayden Carriker, Donald Walters, and Jonathan Ogonowski.
