Kinder-Funeral service for Dennis "Possum" W. Sonnier, Sr, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in McGee Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

"Possum" was a devoted and loving father to his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He worked as a diesel mechanic at John Deere of Kinder for 21 years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed cooking. He especially loved to barbeque. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved to "laugh, pick and play". He also liked woodworking, gardening, and loved growing tomatoes. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Dennis Sonnier and wife, Sallie, of Ville Platte; one daughter, Jennifer Sonnier of Oberlin; one brother, Ricky Sonnier and wife, Sue, of Kinder; 6 grandchildren-Kailee, Klayton, Kolin, Shae, Randi, and Tasha; 6 great grandchildren; and, a host of nieces and nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Cecily Sonnier.
