All of Della Faye's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Della Faye passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Oakdale. Della Faye lived a life of devotion and passion for her beliefs and for those she loved. As a child, she moved from town to town until she was finally able to settle her roots in Oakdale. At the age of 17, she found her forever sweetheart in Joniel "Butch" Douget. In 1972, prayers were answered when she finally received her "baby girl" and became a mother to her adopted daughter, Deena Marie. Always active in the community, Della served as a troop leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts, coached Little Dribblers, and led campaigns for St. Jude's just to name a few. After years of working as an optician, she opened her own "Optical Shoppe," where she helped countless people in her community and the surrounding area with their vision needs. Della Faye always devoted her life to Christ and to helping those in need. Following retirement, she and Butch spent two years traveling the western United States, living the best life anyone could ask for. As always, big sister came to the rescue after her brother Ward Ray decided to sell his house and move to Belize. Being the caring soul she was, Della Faye and Ward built him a new home behind hers so, in her words, "she could keep an eye on him." Della Faye spent her spare time being active in the church, working outside around her home, and dancing to the classics at Fred's in Mamou. She was especially close to her grandson, Dylan, and his wife, Lori, who in 2023 gave her the title of great-grandmother. Della absolutely adored her great-granddaughter, Samantha, and was overjoyed each time she came to visit. Della Faye lived by the motto "Joie de Vivre" the joy of life, and she was determined to see the bright side and make the most of every moment.
"A beautiful soul through whom God's light shines, she leaves a lifetime of memories."
Those left to cherish Della's memory include her daughter, Deena Douget; one brother, Jessie Jordan; one grandson, Dylan LaBuff; and one great granddaughter, Samantha LaBuff.
Della is preceded in death by her husband, Joniel "Butch" Douget; her parents, Peco and Pearl Jordan; two brothers, C.J. and Ward Ray Jordan, and two sisters, Julia Hazleton, and Loretta Wright.
