Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and a friend to all. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Karla, for twenty years. He was raised Catholic and became Baptist in 2002. Darrell has been a member of the Oberlin Baptist Church for the past eighteen years. He worked very hard to provide for his family as a crane operator for twenty years. For the past fifteen years, he became a police officer for the Reeves Police Department, as well as, the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office and there he truly found his calling. He enjoyed fixing old cars, riding motorcycles, listening to zydeco music, dancing, fishing and being outdoors. But most importantly, he dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchild. Darrell was a very loving and caring person always wanting to make everyone laugh. He was always very outgoing, genuine, compassionate and generous. Although, he may have looked intimidating, once you got to know him you loved him. He was a foster parent for sixteen years raising seventy-two children over the course of fostering. Darrell will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Darrell's memory include his wife, Karla Semien of Oberlin; three sons, Corey Semien of Bell City, Tyler Semien of Carlyss, and Malachi Semien of Oberlin; four daughters, Kimberly Curley and husband, Cedric, of Dayton, TX, Shayla Semien and companion, Earl Arvie, of Eunice, Madison Semien of Oberlin and Miracle Semien of Oberlin; one granddaughter, Ever Iris Curley; mother-in-law, Frances Hayes; two brothers, Donald Semien and wife, Tessie, of Point Blue and John Semien and wife, Lola, of New Orleans; four sisters, Velma Davis of Ville Platte, Gerri Thomas of LeBleu, Shirley Ardoin and husband, Ray, of Ville Platte, and DeeDee Chambers of Lake Charles; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren.
