Elton- Funeral Mass for Mr. Darin "Big D" Ortego, 40, will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11 AM in St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. Father Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
Visitation will begin on Monday in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton from 2 to 10 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM, and will continue on Tuesday from 7 AM till time of service.
Mr. Ortego was a resident of Elton. Darin was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a directional driller, and was self-employed, owning his own business, Ortego Construction, and also farmed rice, beans, and crawfish. He loved his Harley. He was a hard-working man and was loved by his family and friends alike.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kitty Ortego of Elton; one son, Tanner Blaze Ortego of Kinder; one daughter, Courtney Dawn Ortego of Pine Island; one brother, Brandon Ortego and wife Susan of Elton;grandmother, Bertha Ortego of Elton; best friends, Alan Hebert of Pine Island, Troy Moore of Elton, David Dequeant of Morse, and Norman Bielamowicz of Conroe, TX.
