Funeral service for Mr. Danny Taylor, 65, will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10 AM in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Bishop Gerald Simon will officiate. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5PM to 8 PM and will continue on Friday from 8AM till time of service.
Mr. Taylor was a resident of Oberlin. He passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010 in Nashville, TN. Danny started playing music at the age of six. He played professionally since the age of 14. In the 60's, he worked with a rock group that was signed to a major label. In 1965, Danny experienced a life-changing encounter with the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. He then started writing Contemporary Christian songs, and in 1972 performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Danny wrote the "700 Club" theme song while serving as their first music director in 1974. He was the owner of his own publishing company and owner of the Home Video Network in Oakdale, LA. He is a pioneer of Contemporary Christian Music. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Taylor is survived by two sons; Daniel Taylor and wife Shannon of Hermitage, TN, and Matthew Taylor and wife Rebecca of Hermitage, TN; three daughters, Pamela Gardner and husband Victor of Clarksville, TN, Amy Revels and husband LaDon of Lebanon, TN and Holly Taylor of Oberlin, LA; four brothers, Samuel Taylor, Tim Taylor, Paul Taylor, and Patrick Taylor, all of Reeves, LA; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Patricia Taylor.
