Oberlin- Dalbert LaFleur, 90, of Oberlin passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. LaFleur was born in Soileau on February 4, 1919 and lived there most of his life. He served in WWII with the 5th Armored Division mostly in France and Germany and received the Silver Star.
Mr. LaFleur retired from the State Highway Department; but his greatest joy was riding a horse and working his cows.
He leaves behind his two daughters, Barbara Maxey and husband Roger, Sharon Grundy and husband James both of Oberlin; five grandchildren, Monique Brooks and husband Willie of Corrigan, TX, Jimmy Wayne Grundy and wife Amy, Jared Maxey and wife Kaci, Nicholas Grundy and wife Angie, all of Oberlin, and Blake Grundy and wife Lori of Lake Charles; eleven great grandchildren, Chase Brooks, Ty Brooks, Rebecca Brooks, Dylan Maxey, Hailey Maxey, Shelbi Grundy, Hunter Grundy, Anthony Manuel, Adam Manuel, Andrew Manuel and Quintin Grundy; two brothers, William LaFleur of Elton and Nick LaFleur of Whitehouse, TX.
Mr. LaFleur is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Merzie Molitor LaFleur; parents, Lastie & Lucille LaFleur; two very young brothers.
Funeral service for Mr. Dalbert LaFleur will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Oberlin Baptist Church. Rev. Josh Peoples & Rev. Shane Nugent will officiate. Burial will follow in Sonnier Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held in Oberlin Baptist Church Sunday from 2pm-10pm and will continue Monday at 8am until time of service.
