Obituary

Homecoming services honoring Colleen Thompson Lemieux, 77, will be held at 2:00p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Believers Bible Church in Pitkin, LA. Brother Brian Thompson will be officiating.

Colleen’s family will receive friends and visitors at Believers Bible Church Thursday morning, October 8, 2026 from 10am until time of service.

Colleen was a lifetime resident of Pitkin, La. She was 77 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, mawmaw, sister and aunt. She was tall, beautiful, and loud. To know her was to love her. She showed so much kindness and love to everyone and anyone- a trait she passed down to her daughter. I have heard countless people say, “Your Mom/Mawmaw is such a sweet lady.” They weren’t wrong. She was a quilt-sewing, road-running, thrift-store-shopping, butter-bean-loving, God-fearing lady.

Colleen had an infectious laugh and never needed a microphone to be heard—a trait she definitely passed down to her son! If any of her grandchildren had a game or an event, you better believe she was going to be there- Especially with her good friend Alene Jacobs. She was one of the most dependable and faithful people I have ever known. Just as her quilts were made from various individual pieces sewn together, Colleen was the thread that kept her family closely knitted.

She gave her children and grandchildren childhoods filled with exciting memories and precious moments. From laying in the yard making shapes out of the clouds, to letting us eat ice cream in the living room—in Pawpaw’s chair, of course. Pawpaw never knew about that. From picking her huckleberry bushes clean, to all the countless little moments in between, she gave us memories we will always treasure. Colleen never really adapted to this “new” world, and to be honest, it could be a little frustrating at times. But looking back now, I realize that was part of her charm. It was part of what made her special.

And I think that’s what we will remember most—she was simply Mom/Mawmaw!. There will never be another one like her.

Those left to cherish Colleen’s memory include her son, Thomas Paul Lemieux, Jr. and wife Janet; one daughter, Janet Collins; five grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Also, 3 sisters and 1 brother: Judy Baldwin, Pat Lea & husband Roy, Cordis Thompson & wife Ruth and Lisa Hamblin & husband Gary.

Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Helen Thompson and Husband Thomas Paul Lemieux, Sr.

Until we meet again, we love you.
