Obituary

Kinder- Funeral Service for Clevance Cormier, 95, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Basile under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 3-9 p.m. with a Vigil Service followed by the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Clevance passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and brother. He was a devoted husband to his first wife, Elta Douget Cormier, for 46 years until her passing in Apri1, 1985. He was also a devoted husband to his second wife, Judith Cormier for the past 32 years.  Clevance enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family. He was very proud of his French heritage, loved playing the accordion and dancing to French music. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Clevance's memory include his wife, Judith Cormier; 2 Sons, Douglas Cormier and companion, Mary Fancher, and Clevance Cormier Jr,; 3 daughters, Doris (Ted) Louviere, Martha Barron, and Ellen Clement; 14 Grandchildren, Lisa Oliver, Rachelle Mona, Chris Cormier, Gerald "Tee" Duplechin, Katrina Thigpen, Jason Duplechin, Eric Duplechin, Derek Duplechin, Allen Cormier, Shannon Smithgall, Laureal Miller, Sonya Sullins, Ray Clement, Ferrell Clement, Timothy Barron, and John Barron ; 25 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine Fontenot; Brother-in-laws, L.C.  and Frank Deshotel.
Clevance is preceded in death by his parents, Thorvel and Laura Cormier; first wife, Elta Douget Cormier; daughter, Linda Cormier Duplechin; brothers, Teo Cormier, Eugene Cormier, Orice Cormier, Lenuis Cormier, Evance Cormier; and sisters, Bernice Broussard, Lucille Mallett, and Aline Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cormier, Gerald "Tee" Duplechin, Jason Duplechin, Eric Duplechin, Derek Duplechin, Chris Cormier, Stephen Smithgall, Collin "Monk" Thigpen, and Paul Oliver.  Honorary pallbearer will be Jonathan Nigro.
