Kinder-Funeral services for Claude "C.J." Fontenot, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow at Kinder McRill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

C.J. was a lifelong resident of Kinder. He loved his children and grandchildren. He retired after more than thirty years of service at PPG as a plant operator. C.J. proudly served our country for four years in the United States National Guard. He enjoyed cutting grass for others. He also enjoyed substituting both in the classroom and as a bus driver for Allen Parish Schools. C.J. was a pillar of his community. He served as a council member and was a huge part of developing the athletic association. C.J. was a gentle man that never met a stranger. He loved people and people loved him. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's ball-games and activities. C.J. was always there to support his children, as well as his grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest and lived his life in a Christ like manner. He enjoyed his carpentry work, mowing grass and making others smile. C.J. will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish C.J.'s memory include his son, Eric Fontenot and wife, Lorrie; daughter, Amy Constance and husband, John; three sisters, Patty Spoor, Mary Jane Ogea and Jeanelle Fontenot; and seven grandchildren, Bailey, Hunter, Ben, Remi, Brailynn, Easton and Whitley.

C.J. is preceded in death by his parents, Hebert and Lucy Fontenot; wife, Sharon Gail Fontenot; and brother, Roderick "Bud" Fontenot.
