Kinder-Funeral service for Clarence Leday, age 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate and burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 4-9 p.m. with a rosary being recited by Pete and Vallrie Unkel at 6pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Clarence was a lifelong resident of Kinder. He worked hard as a farmer over the years to provide for his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved music and was an accomplished Zydeco and Blues musician. As a vocalist and guitar player, he had a well-known hit record, "Mr. Charlie". He has passed on his love of music to the three generations that have followed him. Clarence also enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Mallina Leday of Kinder; three sons-Clifford Leday and wife, Marcellia of Lake Charles, Clarence "Chuck" LeDay and wife, Iris of Basile, and Eddie Leday and wife, Veronica of Oberlin; four daughters-Eva Bushnell and husband, Rodney of Beaumont, TX, Evelina LeDay of Kinder, Barbara Griffin of Lake Charles and Shelia Leday of Kinder; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents-Ida and Lawrence Leday; three brothers-
Adam, Peter and Cleveland Leday; one sister-Ellnor Eaglin; an infant daughter, Baby Leday; and one grandson, Joshua Eddie Leday.
