Kinder-Funeral service will be held for Clarence L. Fontenot, age 88, on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10am in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Brother Don Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held beginning Monday, June 13, 2011 from 4-9pm in Ardoin Funeral Home and will continue on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 8am until time of service.
Clarence was employed with the Louisiana State Highway Department for 38 years. He also served his community as a Jeff Davis Parish Constable, having been elected to over thirty years of service. He enjoyed gardening and yard work-he grew his own vegetables, raised fruit trees, cattle and hogs and enjoyed fishing in his own pond. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and worked hard to provide for his family over the years. He loved the outdoors, loved to tell stories, and was a friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 64 years, Celia Spears Fontenot; one son, Billy Fontenot and wife, Wanda of Kinder; one daughter, Barbara Reed and husband, Edwin of Iowa; six grandchildren-Glenn, Wayne, Chris, Lindsey, Kim, and Michael; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Mattier Fontenot and his brothers, Weber and Walter Langley, Martel, Murray (Sonny), Nathan, and William Fontenot.
