Obituary

Oberlin-Memorial services celebrating the life of Christopher "Chris" Carl Hebert, 53, will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Chris' favorite place, the "Calcasieu River Bridge" located off of Hwy 26 in Oberlin. Rev. Don Duplechain will officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

Chris was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. He was very talented with his hands and could work on or fix anything. He could build the most beautiful things with wood that he would mill himself.  He was a man of strong faith and always said he found God on the river. Chris always said "he would rather be on the river thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about the river". He loved being on the river fishing, elderly people, children, dogs, gardening, growing vegetables and giving all of his vegetables away to anyone who would take them. Chris found his joy in being outdoors. His fishing, hunting, trapping and digging for treasures from the past was always what made him feel the happiest. He was a very generous person and was very giving of his time and anything that he had. Although he wasn't a fan of large crowds, he loved people and always made time to speak to those he knew. Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Chris's memory include his son, Jordan Allen of Lake Charles; sister, Kamela Hebert Statum of DeQuincy; Kamela's children, Dylan Patrick Statum of Little Rock, AR and Kelley Statum of DeQuincy; one great-nephew, James Carl Patrick Chapman; one great-niece, Juliana Irene Chapman; and his sister through love, Lori Kay Ryder Vizena.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Sandra Hebert; paternal grandparents, Ray and Ester Hebert; and maternal grandparents, Wiley and Hilda Patrick.
