Oakdale-Memorial services celebrating the life of Charles Wayne Simmons, 62, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Rev. L.E. Robertson and Rev. Tim Deason will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Charles was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very devoted to his family. Charles enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, hunting and fishing. He was always dealing with a variety of animals and always had people coming to buy his vegetables. He was a volunteer firefighter, a first responder and an ordained minister; Charles was always helping someone. Last, but not least, he worked at the prison doing maintenance work and for Allen Action Agency. Charles loved helping those people get to their doctor appointments or wherever was needed. He was also a member of Four Winds Tribe. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Charles' memory include his mother, Jeanette Horton and husband, Harry; wife, Dedra Odom Simmons; two sons, Charles Simmons, II (Heidi) of Gueydan and Matthew Simmons of Lake Arthur; two daughters, Jessica Benoit (Raymond) of Lake Arthur and Rachael Douzart (Matthew) of Glenmora; two brothers, David Simmons (Candy) of East Beauregard and Wally Simmons of Elizabeth; one sister, Lori Ann Simmons Tyson (Terry) of Henderson, TX; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Louis Cleveland Simmons.
