Obituary

Charles Klumpp, 75, died Friday, February 25, 2011, in a local hospital.

Born in Iota, Louisiana, to Alphan Klumpp and Gladys Sensat, Mr. Klumpp was a native of Basile and lived for the past 30 years in Kinder. He lived his life to the fullest in every way. He was an entrepreneur, actively involved in many different types of businesses. Mr. Klumpp was in the salvage business and was an auctioneer for Charles Klumpp Auctions. He owned and operated Charles Klumpp Cheverolet in Kinder and was very proud to serve on the Board of Directors of First Bank located in both Eunice and Baton Rouge. In addition to all of his business pursuits, Mr. Klumpp derived his greatest satisfaction from being a rice farmer and cattleman. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to French music. Regardless of how busy he might have been, Mr. Klumpp always found time to help others, often donating his auctioneering talent and ability to help others in need through benefits for the sick or any church or community function.

Mr. Klumpp is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shirley Richard Klumpp of Kinder; his children, Ray Klumpp and wife, Becky, Colleen Christ, and Tom Klumpp and wife, Regina, all of Basile, and Walter Klumpp of Ville Platte; a sister, Diane Bandel and husband, Philip of Paris, Texas; his grandchildren, Jessica Denette and husband, Blake, Cassie Christ, Garret Christ, Kristen LaFleur, Ryan Vizena and wife, Katherine, and Natalie Courville and husband, Daniel, Denee Klumpp, Nicholas Klumpp, Jacob Klumpp, and Jeremy Klumpp; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Mary Richard, and his step-mother, Bernice Klumpp.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, February 28, 2011 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder. Fr. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Elton. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1PM-10PM at Ardoin Funeral Home in Kinder, with a rosary and vigil service at 6:30PM and resuming on Monday from 8 until 10:45AM.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Klumpp's three sons and five grandsons.
