Oberlin-Funeral service will be held for Cecilia Sonnier, age 58, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Father John Huckaby and Deacon Dale Deshotel will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Durio Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors beginning on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5-10pm in the Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8am until time of service.
Cecilia was a life long member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the St. Joan of Arc Rosary Group. She graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Accounting in 1975. She was employed with the Allen Parish School Board and the Federal Bureau of Prisons; where she retired. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and reading. After retirement, with her love of reading and being with people, she was able to work at the Allen Parish Library. She was a devoted wife of 38 years and a loving mom. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Sonnier of Oberlin; one son, Nicholas Sonnier of Oberlin; one daughter, Stacey Sonnier of Oberlin; one brother, Jerry Carrier and wife Cindi of Lafayette; one sister, Patricia Cole and husband Craig of Oberlin.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Ursine and Lillie Carrier; two sisters, Alice Manuel and Margaret Ann Carrier.
