IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cathryn "Cat"
Savant
December 26, 1938 – May 22, 2025
Cathryn Elaine Sonnier Savant, a sweet soul with a servant's heart, was born on December 26, 1938, and left for sweeter shores surrounded by her family on May 22, 2025.
Her loving parents, Desota Sonnier (Shorty) and Reatha Williams Sonnier (Tiny), both deceased, welcomed her first as the eldest of six siblings: Judy Sonnier (deceased), Glenn Sonnier (Helen) of Forest Hill, Peggy Jones of Oakdale, Bonnie Fogleman (Jimmy) of Sweetlake, and Greg Sonnier (deceased).
She graduated from Kinder High School in 1958 and married Gene Savant on June 28th of the same year. That marriage led to the welcoming of their two children, Richard Savant of Kinder and Jeannie Ward (Michael) of Lake Charles.
She dearly loved her four grandchildren, Darla Savant of Elton, Philip Broussard (Jamie) of Basile, Nicci Savant of Indian Village, and Trenton LaBove (Shylyn) of Grand Lake as well as ten great-grandchildren: Gabriella Robinson, Bryson Robinson, Kynzleigh Myers, Kyndall Myers, Ethel Broussard, Maggie Broussard, Brexton LaBove, Emersyn LaBove, Stone Savant, and Marleke Vickers.
Along with her husband, Gene, she was the former owner of Savant Cleaners and Gene Savant Trucking. She spent her final years of her career doing what she loved best: cooking and serving people as she served many lunches to school children and teachers at the Kinder schools and then as cafeteria manager for the Allen Parish School Board.
Cooking was her passion. She always had a meal prepared, there were no strangers, and all were welcome to sit at her table.
Family was everything to her. When they all gathered at her home, she would say her heart was so full. Reunited with so many loved ones, we can certainly be assured that her heart remains full - surrounded by loving family.
