Son of Louis and Viola Bushnell Savant. Carlton Savant, a beloved father, grandfather and friend passed away at the age of 88 leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work and dedication. He lived a full life always placing God at the center of everything he did. Carlton joined the Army as a young man, where he served as a clerk at Fort Smith. After a brief time serving, he came home where he met the first love of his life, Willidean Cooper Savant. They had five children together. He worked first at Benglis Sash and Door then worked with his Uncles Hoover Savant and Wallace Savant learning the carpenter trade. From there he started his own business in the '60s building houses in the Pine Acres subdivision in Kinder. His business grew to form a small company and in 1978 he established Carlton Construction Co, Inc. He went on to become a successful general contractor specializing in commercial buildings and custom houses. A self-taught businessman, he became familiar with computers and used them, continuing to learn until his death. He, through the business, provided jobs for many young men and their families. He never wanted to stop working. Even on Saturday's he was at that office.
After Willidean passed away, he met a wonderful, beautiful woman, Helen Savant. They loved and cared for each other and spent many happy years together until her death in 2021. As a family he gained 3 daughters, and they spent many happy holidays together.
What a beautiful life he lived. Always trusting quietly in his Savior for guidance. His prayer at mealtime always included, "and forgive us our wrongs in Jesus' name we pray, Amen." Carlton had many wonderful years in this life with great experiences and successes along the way.
Those left to cherish Carlton's memory include son, Gary Savant and wife Tabitha; six daughters, Elizabeth Miller and husband Tresmer, Pamela Augustine and husband Blaine, Janet Portie, Paige Savant, Cindy Hooper and husband Paul, Shauna Manuel and husband Glenn; three brothers, Wade, Tyrone, and Charles Savant; sister, Gail Wofford; grandchildren, Kyle Miller (Lesley), Brittany Van Norman (Wynn), Katelyn Carrier (Kenny), Troy James Portie, Kelsey and Kaley Savant, Alivia, Chance and Will Chamberlain, Tanner Savant, Sean and Breanna Burkhead, Savanah Stone, Clint Hodges, Jennifer and Alexis Hooper; Great-grandchildren, Bradley and Bentley Lafleur, Wren and Beckett Van Norman, Lily, Karson and Kipp Miller, Kali Hooper, Amelia, Talon, Oliver, and Lilly Stone; and a host of extended family members and friends.
