Oakdale-Memorial Services celebrating the life of Burnel Lee Fontenot, 68, will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Rev. Tim Kelley will officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Burnel was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary, for thirty-nine years. He worked very hard as a heavy equipment operator to provide for his family. He was a faithful employee for Progressive Construction for over fourteen years. His first job was at Western Auto and he was also a volunteer fireman for Oakdale for many years. Burnel loved fishing, hunting, camping, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He could go to town to pick up his beer and be gone for hours talking to everyone that he would meet. You could always find him propped up on his tailgate drinking a beer. Burnel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Burnel's memory include his wife, Mary Fontenot; two sons, Randy Durison (Alice Rowell) of Sieper and Brandon Lee Fontenot (Jennifer) of Sugartown; one daughter, Mandy Lea Baxley (David) of Chapin, SC; one brother, Wayne "Funny" Fontenot (Debbie) of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Nell Bang of Oakdale and Sybil Fontenot of Oakdale; grandchildren, Amber and Ray Brooks, Logan Baxley, Adeline and James Lightsey, Emma Baxley, Summer Miller, Tyler Durison and Lily Ahart, Haley Durison, Journey Durison, Tracy Durison, Landon Locke, Sadie Durison, Jaycee Galladora, Braylee Fontenot and Brayden Fontenot; and three great grandchildren, Lively Durison, Taizleigh Durison and Jack Brooks.

Burnel is preceded in death by his parents, Marshal and Emma Hollier Fontenot.
