Kinder-Funeral service for Mr. Bruce Joseph Leonard Sr., 70, will be held
Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1pm in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of
Kinder. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul
Cemetery of Elton.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10am at St.
Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder until time of service.
Bruce was a devoted husband of 49 years and was dedicated to his
church and known for his work of ethics. He also was owner and operator
of Bruce's Lawn Service for over 50 years. He worked for the Coushatta Tribe
in landscaping for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Mr. Bruce
also had a love for fast race cars. He had a great love of music and dance but
horses was his passion. Bruce was a loving dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He never met a stranger and always had a smile. He will be greatly missed by all
who knew him.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Earline Eaglin Leonard of Kinder; mother, Laura
Bell Welch; three sons, Bruce Leonard Jr., Kirk Leonard, and Anthony Matthews;
two daughters, Susan and Darline Leonard all of Lafayette; one sister, Rosa
Velazquez; and eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
His father, Mr. George Leonard, Sr.; precedes him in death; two brothers,
John Leonard of Elton, and George J. Leonard, Jr. of Jennings.
