Bonnie Sigler, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on January 18. She was born on February 18, 1942. She grew up in Allen Parish on her parent's dairy farm where she helped each morning and evening while also attending school at Fairview. After graduation, she attended Chenier Business School in Beaumont and, in 1961, married her high school sweetheart, John. They spent almost 40 years together and raised two children.

After marriage, Bonnie and John left the Grant community and lived in Alabama, California, and Texas before returning to Grant for retirement in 2001. Bonnie worked as a business and church secretary when she wasn't busy raising her children. She tirelessly and lovingly cared for her son with autism until he passed away in 2017, and she also helped raise and spoil her 3 grandchildren. Bonnie enjoyed her retirement years in Grant, reconnecting with old friends and family. She loved doting on her extended family including the many "extra" grandchildren hanging out and playing at her house.

All of her life, she served her church in whatever ways she could. As a teenager and young adult, she played the piano on Sunday mornings. Later in her life, she served most often through the women's ministry: packing gift-filled shoeboxes, preparing and serving food, and sewing clothes.

She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and service. Her love for the Lord was demonstrated through the many ways she cared for and helped people. Her family, of course, were the recipients of the bulk of her love.

She leaves behind her daughter, Sharon Walker, three grandchildren, Haley, Joshua, and Megan Walker, and her brother and his wife, Loyd and Michele Sandefer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kyle and Ruby Sandefer; her husband, John Sigler; and her son, Richard Sigler.
