Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Betty Rose West McArthur, 89, will be held at 11 o'clock a.m. on Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder, LA. Rev. Jason Townley will officiate. Betty will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery in Glenmora, LA immediately following her services.

Betty's family will receive friends and visitors at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder, LA, on Friday evening, September 27, 2024, from 5-9 o'clock p.m. Betty's visitation will resume at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder, LA, on Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, from 8 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Betty's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Betty Rose West McArthur entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at her residence in Glenmora, LA. She was born on January 19, 1935, in Glenmora. In 1952, Betty married the love of her life, Clarence "Smitty" McArthur and the two enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Betty was an active member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder, LA, where she attended church regularly and enjoyed spending time with her church family. For many years she was an active member in Women's Missionary Union, where she participated in numerous activities and formed many friendships along the way. Betty was well-known for using her talent of quilting to make prayer blankets for the sick and prayer squares for the military. She also loved to paint and shared her talent with many. Betty was a very kind and caring lady who loved the Lord and cherished her family. She will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Betty's memory include, three daughters, Regina Wright (Tony) of Glenmora, LA, Connie Ware (Bobby) of Sieper, LA and Kathy Singley (Steven) of DeQuincy, LA; two sons, Roy McArthur (Josette) of TX, and Vernon McArthur (Renee) of Glenmora, LA; one sister, Gay Robbins; nine grandchildren; Jason, Kimberly, Rachel, Sharla, Tara, Adam, Derek, Tresa, and Jarrad, twenty-three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" and Mertie Willis West, her husband, Clarence "Smitty" McArthur; three brothers, Donald, Arnold, and Larry West, and two sisters, Ruthie Thacker, and Billie Smith.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Tony Wright, Bobby Ware, Steven Singley, Jason Wright, Derek Ware, and Jarrad Singley.

Betty's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice and Betty's caregiver Melissa, for all their love and compassion while caring for Betty.
