Oakdale-Funeral services for Beathel Leo Sweat, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Six Mile Pentecostal Church. Rev. L.E. Robinson, Rev. Ronnie Perkins and Rev. M. C. Green will officiate. Burial will follow in Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5-10 p.m. at Six Mile Pentecostal Church. Visitation will resume Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Beathel was a loving husband to his wife, Wilma, for seventy- three years. He was also a loving father to his four children. Beathel worked for the Calcasieu paper company for thirty two years and was a member of Six Mile Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing on Bundick Lake and living life to the fullest. Beathel enjoyed visiting with family and friends any chance he got. Family and friends referred to Beathel as "Bilbo" while his coworkers knew him as "Leo". He loved traveling with his wife in their motor home to various places such as: Alaska, Tennessee, and Montana just to name a few. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Beathel's memory include his wife, Wilma Sweat; two sons, Joe Joseph Henry Sweat and wife, Bonnie, and Rodney Leo Sweat and wife, Pam; two daughters, Bethel Hermes and Yvonne Ileen Buller and husband, Randy; two sisters, Yvonne Leonard and Patty Thompson; one brother, Dudley Sweat; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren
Beathel is preceded in death by his parents, William and Missouri Sweat; and his step father, Henry Sweat: two brothers, Leverne and Ronald Sweat; one sister, Juanita Rapier; and one great grandson, Clayton Sweat.
