Kinder- Audrey Alexander, 87, of Kinder, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018. She was born on August 19, 1931 in Bel, LA to Cody Alexander and Lillie Mae Alexander. Homegoing services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Creel Memorial Chapel. Rev. M.C. Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Creel Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Creel Memorial Chapel on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 12 noon until time of service.

Audrey was raised on a farm and grew up working the fields with her family. Life in the country was good. They didn't have much money, but they always had plenty of food on the table-fruits and vegetables from the family fields were plentiful. Audrey was a hard worker with a quiet personality and had a very kind and generous heart. She worked at the local Cash and Carry for many years and retired from there after it transitioned into Market Basket. Staying busy was important to Audrey. You could always find her working in her yard, washing her car and cleaning: her home and vehicle was always spotless. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at her house were always an event to be remembered. She and her sister Evelyn were the best hostesses you would ever meet and they took the holidays very seriously-the massive spread of food they made was incredible! When guests left, they would go home with several plates because Audrey and Evelyn would not let anyone leave with just one.

She was a long time member of Grace Community Church in Kinder, Louisiana for many years. She could always be found with her sister Evelyn when she wasn't at work. The two were inseparable. She was the definition of a devoted Christian and left us with a great example of how to live and treat others. She loved her family, neighbors, and church family fiercely. She will be deeply missed and her memory will be cherished.

Those left to cherish Audrey's memory include her niece, Karen Hughes and husband, Carlos; great niece, Amber Landry and husband, Shane; great niece and nephew, Eva and Colt Landry; as well as a host of cousins, loving neighbors, and friends.

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Cody and Lillie Alexander; two sisters, Verdois Savoy and Evelyn Alexander; and one brother-in-law, Presley Savoy.

The family would like to say a special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Kinder Retirement Center, Vernetta Nesbit and Karen Hughes for the exceptional love and care at the end of her life.
