Oberlin-Funeral service for Aubrey "Pop" Fontenot, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Rev. Bob Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 4-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Pop was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary, for more than fifty years. Pop worked hard to provide for his family. After over twenty years of service, Pop retired from Harris County as a mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to Cajun music. He was a BIG fan of KBON. Pop loved his Cajun French heritage and often spoke French with his family and friends. His joy was drinking morning coffee with his daughter, Michelle, and waiting for his grandson to get off the school bus at his house. After his grandson would get off the bus, they would practice speaking French together. Pop will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Pop's memory include his wife, Mary Fontenot of Oberlin; son, David Wayne Shambaugh of Kinder; daughter, Audrey Michelle Wiseman and husband, Richard, of Oberlin; and two grandchildren, Gabriel and Ashtin Wiseman.
