Oberlin-Funeral Service for Artis Gene Veazey, Jr, age 57, will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 2 o'clock p.m. at Oberlin Baptist Church.  Rev. Greg Willis will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oaklin Springs Cemetery.  All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Oberlin Baptist Church from 4-9 o'clock p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023.  Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Artis, affectionately known to many as "Bubba", was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was married to his wife, "Candi", for the past 28 years. Artis worked in the concrete business for over 20 years, always working many hours to provide for his family.  He was very patriotic and loved our country.  Artis enjoyed joking around with everyone and loved and adored his family.  He was excited about his new grandbaby's upcoming arrival and was very proud of all his kids.  Artis' passing will be deeply felt by many family members, coworkers, and friends that loved him dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Candi Veazey of Oberlin; one son, Braden Gene Veazey of Oberlin; two daughters, Kayla Lynn Veazey Shuff and husband, John of Oakdale and Krista Danielle Veazey and fiancé, Eric Cormier of Oberlin; one sister, Rebecca Granger of Oberlin; four grandchildren-Daxton, Lorie, and Jamie Shuff, Natalie Wilson, and grandbaby number five on the way, Kolton Gene Cormier; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Artis is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Artis Veazey, Sr; and one sister, Renee Lambert.
