Elton-Funeral service for Arnold James John, age 50, will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Elton. Terrance Brownlow-Dindy will officiate the service and burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 1-10pm with a vigil service at 7pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8am until time of service.
Arnold was a lifelong resident of Elton. He worked over the years offshore and most recently worked with the maintenance department for the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. His favorite past times were hunting and shooting pool. He was also known for his great sense of humor. Many of his friends knew him by his nickname, "Puppy". He was a loving son, brother, and father and had a special love for his children. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother-Pauline John of Elton; his wife-Aretha James John of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter-Leigh-Anne Thompson of Elton; one son-Bruce James John of Albuquerque, NM; four brothers-Philip John of Elton, Nathan Sylestine and Calvin Sylestine, both of Elton, and Burley Sylestine of Iota; three sisters-Sylvia, Tanya, and Theresa John, all of Elton.
Arnold is preceded in death by his father-Woodrow John; two brothers-Nolan Mark Sylestine and Donny Sylestine; and one sister-Clarice Chevallier.
