Obituary

Annie Hall Breaux of Kinder, Louisiana passed away December 12, 2011. She was 64 years old. Annie was born on December 8, 1947 in Kinder to Jules and Edrie Guillory. She was their only child and their pride and joy. She graduated from Kinder High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from USL in 1969. She lived in New Orleans and worked in the export business before later moving to San Francisco, California where she worked in the private sector before opening a chain of specialty pizza restaurants with her late husband, Richard Hall. Annie traveled and lived in various countries around the world with Richard, who was an airline captain. She lived for a time in the Cape Cod, Massachusetts area where she was owner and artistic director of the Scarbourgh Art Gallery that she opened and managed. She also ran a successful catering service with her friend and business partner, Susan. In 2001, Annie and her husband moved from Wellfleet, Massachusetts back to Kinder to help care for her recently widowed mother. She discovered her love for teaching as a substitute teacher at Kinder Elementary. She followed that love to the Little Indian School on the Coushatta Reservation in Elton. Teaching and working with the 3-4 year old preschool students became her greatest joy in the years prior to her illness.
Throughout her life, no matter what part of the world she lived in, she cooked for, entertained and spent time with her family and friends. She was also an avid reader, loved all forms of the Arts, gardening, animals and enjoyed planning and taking day trips with family and friends. While living in Massachusetts, she was "second mother" to her business partner, Susan's, three children-Jessie, Alex, and Neely. Annie's greatest sorrow was having to leave her dear mother. The family would like to thank all family and friends who provided prayers, food, transportation, and help with daily activities during Annie's short, but courageous, fight with cancer. They would especially like to thank her Coushatta Little Indian School and the Department of Education co-workers, as well as other Coushatta employees who donated leave time allowing Annie to keep continuous insurance coverage throughout her illness. Annie's family would also like to acknowledge the blessing of the professional and spirit-lead caregivers provided by Odyssey Hospice Health Care of Lake Charles.
Annie is survived by her loving mother, Edrie (Sis) Richard Guillory of Kinder; her brother-in-law, Steve (Simin) Hall of Connecticut; three uncles, Michael Richard and wife, Bonnie of Elton, Wylie Richard and wife, Una of Kinder, and Wayne Richard and wife, Marlene of Delcambre; her godchildren, Kimberly Richard of Colorado and Aaron Richard of Lake Charles, whose accomplishments she was very proud of; and, many cousins and honorary relatives who will miss her dearly.
Annie is preceded in death by her father, Jules Guillory; her grandparents, Cleve and Evanna Nugent Richard and Tanus and Eva Spears Guillory; and her husband, Richard Hall.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 5-9pm at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder with a rosary being recited by Annie's uncle, Wylie Richard, at 6:30pm followed by a scripture service presided by Deacon Mike Tramell. Funeral service will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder on Friday, December 16, 2011 beginning with a gathering of family and friends at 9am with the service to begin at 10am. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
