Kinder- Funeral service for Mr. Andrew "Ed" Matthis, 83, will be held Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Mike Paxton will officiate burial with military honors will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:30pm-10pm and will continue Sunday at 8am until time of service.
Mr. Matthis was a resident of Kinder, Army veteran during WWII, served 20 years of service with Gifford Hill Gravel Company, served 15years with R.E. Heidt, was a 32nd Scottish Right Mason, and a member of the American Legion. He passed away Friday, December 19, 2008 in his residence surrounded by family.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Matthis & wife Janet of Bell City, Paul Matthis & wife Sylvia of Westlake, Randy Matthis & wife Sherry of Kinder; one daughter, Toni Matthis of Kinder; one brother, Samuel Matthis of Pitkin; caretakers & grandchildren, Nicholas & Samantha Cooley; 9 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Matthis; father, Andrew Jackson Matthis; mother, Dora Temperance Matthis; daughter, Debbie Faye Matthis; two brothers, Alvin Matthis & David Matthis; sister, Marjorie Hanna.
