Oberlin-Celebration of Life services honoring Andrew "Tan Tan" Paul Fontenot, 88, will be held on Thursday morning, June 4, 2026, at 11 o’clock a.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Rev. Greg Willis will officiate. Andrew will be laid to rest at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder, La. immediately following his services.
Andrew’s family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 4-9 o’clock p.m. Andrew’s visitation will resume at 8 o’clock a.m. until time of service. All of Andrew’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
Andrew "Tan Tan" Paul Fontenot was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on Sunday, May 15, 1938, in Mamou, La. to the union of Lezime Fontenot and Mary Douget Fontenot. Andrew served in the Army reserve as a private from 1956 to 1959 in Fort Smith, Ark. He also worked for 25 years and retired from the State Forestry. Andrew was married the love of his life, Charlotte Fontenot, for 64 years. He attended church at the Oberlin Assembly of God. Andrew’s favorite pastimes were gardening, drinking coffee on his porch, and visiting with his friends and family. He will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by those who knew him.
Those left to cherish Andrew’s memory include his wife, Charlotte Fontenot of Oberlin; five sons, Favor Joe Fontenot of Oberlin, Shannon Fontenot of Kinder, La., Lezime Fontenot of Kinder, La., Terry Fontenot of Russelville, Ark., and Rocky Fontenot of Kinder, La.; three daughters, Twana Stockton of Van Buren, Ark.; Lana Fontenot of Lake Charles, La., and Sherry Willis of Oberlin; three daughters in law, Linda Fontenot of Russelville, Ark., Tisha Fontenot and Monica Fontenot both of Kinder, La.; two sons in law, Mike Willis of Oberlin and Junior Stockton of Van Buren, Ark.; fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, Lezime “Babe” Fontenot, and Mary Douget Fontenot; four brothers, Clifton, Clayton, Burly, and Masxim Fontenot; three sisters, Clarice Fontenot, Emma Grace Manuel, and Dora Fontenot; son in law Carlos Reyes, daughter in law Sherry Ann Fontenot, and Great granddaughter Eva French.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Shannon Fontenot, Lee Fontenot, Rocky Fontenot, Terry Fontenot, Michael Myers, and Cannon Fontenot. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Willis and Favor Joe Fontenot.
